Well our 2001 production has been and gone and finally it is possible to place some pictures on the site as proof. These are all captures from the video that Harry produces for us. This method allowed careful choice of the subjects to ensure that the poses are more suitable. One last point on the subject of the pictures is just how good the background scenery is. The pictures of Vicki as Beauty, in particular, show off the excellent backdrops.

The story tells of a handsome prince turned into a disfigured monster by a evil wizard. He is eventually returned to normal by the love of a young girl.

As far as the production goes it once again was a great success, however unlike 2000 we had to work much harder to achieve our reward. With a script that was amusing but not riotously funny, it was left to the production, actors and backstage people to squeeze as much out as possible. The superb scenery has been mentioned above but an additional plaudit should go to the costumes. It was remarked at the dress rehearsal that everyone in the production had a great costume.

Sue was once again our principal boy while we welcomed Vicki as the principal girl. Ken returned to his frocks as the Dame; his part included the universally loved Flanders and Swan song 'The Gasman Cometh'. Rebecca and Kate were two foppish gentlemen who tried to avoid the clutches of June and Margaret playing Beauty's sisters.

The force of good was played by Deborah as Fairy White Rose while Martin played the evil Slithering and had to be made up in red and black to get the right effect. He also used real pyrotechnics, a first for the group!

Stephen played Beauty's father resplendent in fake mutton-chops and a flat Yorkshire dialect. Three more new actors, William, Stuart and Anna played Hudson and other staff positions. We also had a dance troupe consisting of Emma, Charlotte, Clare, Jessica and Antonia to open both acts and perform to The Village People's YMCA.

So, once again, a jolly good time was had by all.

Thanks should go to Harry and his wife for the time taken to produce the video. It is from his working copies that all the images on this page were produced. Although they might not have the resolution of scanned photographs, the process allowed the the ability to choose interesting and suitable action poses. In particular the capture of Martin using his flash ring just would not be possible through photographs.
