This pantomime is of course the story of the daydreaming boy, Jack, who sells the family's only cow at market for magic beans rather than money. The beans grow into a huge beanstalk up which Jack climbs up fights the giant and returns with all the giant's riches.
It's usually quite difficult for amateur groups to stage since most village halls don't have the space for a mile high plant or a giant. We got around the latter by having Ian playing the giant as some sort of robot made from cardboard with a 360° swivel head. The panto also allows for that stalwart character, the pantomime cow and this year's was excellent.
